The Federal High Court of Nigeria has announced its 2026 Annual Vacation, which will commence on Monday, July 27, 2026, and end on Friday, September 11, 2026, while also unveiling a roster of judges who will preside over urgent matters during the vacation period.
The announcement was made in a statement issued by the Director of Information, ICT and Protocol of the Federal High Court, Dr. Catherine Oby Christopher, following the approval of the annual vacation by the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Hon. Justice John Terhemba Tsoho, pursuant to Order 46, Rule 4(d) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2019.
According to the statement, although judges will proceed on their annual recess, judicial services will continue uninterrupted for cases requiring immediate attention through specially designated Vacation Courts.
To ensure access to justice during the vacation, judicial divisions in Abuja, Lagos, Port Harcourt, and Enugu will remain operational to hear urgent applications and time-sensitive matters.
The court advised legal practitioners, litigants, and members of the public to file and prosecute only urgent cases at the designated Vacation Courts closest to them throughout the vacation period.

Abuja Judicial Division

Lagos Judicial Division

– Justice Ogazi F. Nkemakonam
Port Harcourt Judicial Division
– Justice P. M. Ayua
– Justice A. T. Mohammed
Enugu Judicial Division
– Justice F. O. G. Ogunbanjo
– Justice M. T. Segun-Bello
The annual vacation forms part of the Federal High Court’s judicial calendar, allowing judges to take a recess while ensuring that essential judicial services remain available for matters requiring urgent intervention.
Justice Tsoho also extended goodwill wishes to judges of the Federal High Court, expressing hope that the vacation would provide them with adequate rest ahead of the commencement of the new legal year.
The Federal High Court reaffirmed its commitment to the timely administration of justice by maintaining functional Vacation Courts to address pressing legal matters throughout the annual break.
