An indigene of Ekiti State, Owoeye Daniella Jesudunsin, has emerged as the overall best candidate in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), scoring an impressive 372 out of 400.
Daniella outperformed over 2.2 million candidates who participated in the nationwide examination held across 966 accredited Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres in Nigeria.
The brilliant student, who reportedly sat for the examination in Ogun State, has chosen the University of Lagos (UNILAG) as her first choice institution where she intends to study Medicine and Surgery.
Her exceptional performance has sparked excitement across Ekiti State and Nigeria, with many Nigerians praising her dedication, intelligence, and hard work.

Another high-performing candidate, Umukoro Gift Orhenevovwero from Delta State, also scored 367 and selected UNILAG to study Electrical/Electronics Engineering.
JAMB Releases 2026 Admission Baseline Scores
During the policy meeting, JAMB also approved the baseline admission cut-off marks for tertiary institutions across the country.
According to the board:
- Pan-Atlantic University fixed the highest baseline score at 220
- Top federal universities including UNILAG, UI, OAU, UNIBEN, and UNN adopted 200
- Lagos State University (LASU) adopted 195
- Several federal universities adopted 180
- The general national minimum benchmark was fixed at 150
Education stakeholders have described the 2026 UTME results as highly competitive, especially in science and technology-related courses such as Medicine, Engineering, Computer Science, and Software Engineering.
