The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) family has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of Pastor Ifeoluwa Akindayomi, the last born of the church’s revered founder, Pa Josiah Akindayomi. He was aged 62.

According to reports gathered by CoolNews.ng, Pastor Ifeoluwa passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2025, in what sources described as a tragic and unexpected incident. His death comes 45 years after the passing of his father, and just seven months after his elder brother, Pastor Kolade Akindayomi, who died on May 4, 2025.

A close family friend, who spoke with Church Times and was later confirmed by CoolNews.ng, described the news as both “shocking and heartbreaking.”

“Nobody would have thought he would die barely 24 hours after serving as the chairman of a wedding ceremony. He was full of life, cheerful, and showed no sign of illness,” the source said.

The friend narrated that on the morning of his death, Pastor Ifeoluwa had gone for a prayer walk within the RCCG Camp, where he resided. Upon returning home to prepare for Sunday service, he reportedly missed his steps and fell headlong, hitting his head on a sharp object. He sustained a severe head injury and lost consciousness. Efforts to rush him to the hospital proved futile, as he passed away before medical help could reach him.

Until his demise, Pastor Ifeoluwa served as the Assistant Provincial Pastor of RCCG Ogun Province 5 and was also the owner of a thriving printing press.

According to family sources, his wife and children reside in Canada, where he had recently secured permanent residency and was making plans to relocate before the unfortunate incident.

“He had finalized his relocation plans and was preparing to join his family abroad. It’s deeply painful that death came just when everything seemed to be aligning for him,” a family acquaintance revealed.

In a heartfelt tribute, one of his lifelong friends and fellow RCCG pastor, Debo Akinyemi, described him as a humble, quiet, and deeply compassionate man.

“He was a true gentleman — calm, unassuming, and not given to show. Many didn’t even know he was the founder’s son. He never used his father’s name to seek attention or position,” Akinyemi recalled.

Akinyemi further reminisced on their days together at Molusi College, Ijebu-Igbo, describing Pastor Ifeoluwa as “soft-spoken, pleasant, and principled.”

“He loved people genuinely and maintained friendships effortlessly. During RCCG’s last convention, his home was open to many guests. That was the kind of man he was — giving and welcoming,” he added.

Though Pastor Ifeoluwa Akindayomi lived a relatively quiet life, his legacy of humility, service, and faith continues to reflect the enduring values of the Akindayomi family, the lineage behind one of Nigeria’s most influential churches.

Plans for his burial are yet to be announced by the family as tributes continue to pour in from across the RCCG community and beyond.
